Team Meeting no. 2

We're lookin' for another day of tossin' for those who are available. Please leave a comment if you are available or not, just so we know numbers. Thanks!!

Where: Paddock Park (Don Mills and Simonston Blvd) (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Don+Mills+and+Simonston+Blvd,+Thornhill+ontario&ll=43.818489,-79.366093&spn=0.01412,0.040555&om=1 )

I'll be there, with a frisbee too. Also, if anyone lives near downtown (circa St. George and Bloor) and can drive, that would be sweet.

-Kieran

p.s. Sorry for not attending the last one, I was not in the city.

hey all, I'm finally back from ktown and ready to play! Can't wait to meet everyone!

p.s. do we know what time on the 24th? or even, will we be getting a schedule at some point? no rush, just wondering.

Most of you were there last week, but for those who weren't, park at Flowervale PS. The park is around back.

Also, please be as punctual as you can be. The earlier we get started the more time we have to scrim at the end!

What if it rains? Are we all comfortable playing in the rain?

Hey,
I can't make it. I have houseleague softball and it's the first practice, so probably not a good idea to ditch!

I don't think I can make it. I forgot to subscribe (am subscribed now) to this blog and I didn't read it until today.

I have a work social thing I really should go to.

IF my plans for tonight change I can make practice....otherwise, I'll see all of you next Wed for our first game! woohoo!

Yup, you can subscribe using the feed:

You can either use a feed reader (e.g. bloglines), or you can get it to feed it right to your email using rmail

The feed doesn't include the comments though :(

I can make practice. Lets go rain or shine...we'll play in it, so may as well practice in it.

Jones.

As of 1:25 it's rainy on and off. Just to reiterate, we WILL be there RAIN or SHINE. To be sincere, nothing's quite as fun as laying out (diving for the newbies) in the rain!

Hey,

Does anyone want trucker hats for this team? We're probably going through VC, but using a different hat source (they will be a deeper fit...) I have a "sample" if you guys want to see....

It's sweet. And I want one.

As of 1:45 it is a really nice day :)

I think I can make it tonight. Can we please practice lay-outs? It would be perfect with the wet grass. I heard there is a drill which makes you reach farther and farther for the disc until you are actually doing layouts. I have a mental block against them which I need to get over.

The Agenda for the evening is a little more basic than layouts but we can throw some in there. I know there are some drills but I find the biggest thing for laying out is -wanting- it. If you're really into your game, you'll get to the point where you want that disc or D enough that you'll sacrifice your body without giving it a second thought.

The basic agenda: Warmup -> Stretch -> Defense talk/drills -> Cutting talk/drills -> Scrim

We want to really get the basics nailed down before our first game. Fundamentals like defensive force and effective cutting are the backbone of a team; details we'll work on as the season progresses.

We could do that drill, or even just a regular huck drill. We could work on our endurance AND laying out......

Or we could just scrimmage. Haha

I love layouts in the rain!
I have to leave early though because of skating it's easier to explain in person. Anyways I'm up for practicing unless there's lightning. I don't do lightning and you shouldn't either. See you!

The time is 834 am. I'm at the office. I need someone (Bonnie) to post something so I can use this webpage as a tool of procasination as opposed to a tool of communication to the rest of the team.

-I think we all know who this is...
