Hey Breakfast,
On behalf of Bon and Eric I want to say thanks to those of you (most of you!) that came out last night. We were all pleasantly surprised over all at how the team looks so far and hope as a team, we can hammer out some of the bugs before the season starts. Once it does start, though, it's unlikely that we'll be able to run such practices regularly if at all. That said, everyone on the team should take it upon themselves to practice and/or "train" on their own or in small groups whenever possible. Go for a run in the morning, get out and even do some suicides (very good cut training). Ok, stop rolling your eyes already! These are just suggestions.
BUT what I do STRESS above all things is whenever you can, pick up a disc and drag someone out to toss.
When you do toss, be sure to work on everything. With that little bit of instruction, you should be able to begin to strengthen both your throws and your catches. We want everyone to have a comfortable and decent flick and backhand, as well as have decent hands for catching and some facility reading a disc's flight. For those that are newer and struggling or even those of us that feel we've got a pretty good grip on the fundamentals, it can't hurt to keep in good practice.
Finally, and again for everyone of every level, read up on and watch ultimate now and then. The links over there on the left are a good start, especially ultimate handbook. If you don't know anyone who has DVDs you can check out http://www.ultimate-trip.com/ for a handful of videos. Supplement your personal throwing practice with reference online, and watch some good ultimate to get amped for games!
If at any point you have any issues or questions regarding us, the team, or anything else, please don't hesitate to bring them out so we can cut you- i mean, deal with it fairly.
-Shawn
