Good game last night even though it was crazy cold. Hopefully by next week we'll get some heat in the dome. Just wanted to do some housekeeping and things to think about for our next game. The score last night was 23-17; not too shabby @ all especially since some of us haven't played since the end of summer, and as a team we're still trying to gel.
For our next game we're going to look out for and review:
1. Horizontal Stacking
2. NO POACHING
3. Keeping the force
a) Don't get broken.
Your team-mates are relying on you, the mark, to hold the force
b) Don't get beat force side.
Whoever is marking the disc is relying on their team-mate to get the D on the force side. (stay between the disc and your mark)
c) Don't get beat up line.
Let them have the dump rather than the up-line catch. If you have to, let them dump, and prevent the swing
If there are any questions, please ask. We have veteran ladies on the team and they are more than happy to give tips and feedback. Let me know if I missed anything :)

ok i rarely read this, but bonnie told me to read it and make comments i would assume......
1) i agree wtih connie - but when the pair is "hot" - e.g. makes the first cut and what not, remember that the second pair must be active as well, and move accordingly to the first pair. there's no point of the first pair to move, and then have no continuation cut from the 2nd pair....
2) poaching is a double edge sword. if you make the play, you'll be the hero (how the heck did u make that play?) but if you mess up and mis-read the play, you'll be the goat (how the heck did you miss that play? go sit down on the bench)
comments on additional notes
i agree with connie for taking the outs when you're playing indoors, but what you can do, if you have a more experienced team is play a junk d, where a big guy will be poaching a little deeper to help out a player that gets burn deep....just a thought...may or may not be appropriate for league depending on personnel.....queen's did this for me, b/c i'm short, and they designed a defense that helped me out deep....
i suppose the biggest thing i can tell is connie's comment about the priority btwn don't get beat upline and don't get broken....more of a technical thing than anything....here goes nothing:
there's no "priority" between both...it should be happening at the same time. for example, if you're marking the disc, you shouldn't be broken; but if you're marking, say the dump, you shouldn't be getting beat upline - let them "dump" it, jsut don't get beat upline......once they get the dump, the off-disc mark becomes the on-disc mark, and his/her priority is to prevent the break....
so that's my 2 cents
ps: don't get broken.
pps: at all costs
ppps: i'm serious
pppps: foul the shit out of them
pppppps: for real.
